CHICAGO – The Bruins knew they had played a "terrible" period. Blasted in the opening 20 minutes of Game 2 at the United Center, but only down a goal despite a Blackhawks shot barrage, Boston assembled in the visitors dressing room between periods to hash out their concerns. "We told ourselves that we have to wake up," Dennis Seidenberg recalled of the intermission exchange, which included a similar refrain from head coach Claude Julien. "Its the Stanley Cup Finals; you dont get here too many times in your life so its now or never." Daniel Paille would blister a shot behind the glove of Corey Crawford in overtime on Saturday evening, capping a steady Bruins rally and evening up the Stanley Cup Final at one with Game 3 ahead in Boston on Monday night. The picture of experience and resiliency in recent years, the Bruins would ultimately survive a miserable first frame, an early storm that saw Chicago swarm Tuukka Rask with 19 shots, only four going the other way in a truly one-sided proceeding. In spite of the ferocious onslaught, however, Boston was down just the one goal, Patrick Sharp the lone shooter to beat Rask, the emerging Conn Smythe candidate now boasting a .944 save percentage in the postseason. "Well, we definitely were in survival mode there for a bit," said Rask afterward, the Blackhawks held to just 15 shots the rest of the night. "It looked like they had more guys out there than we did ... We definitely played pretty bad." "It was totally lopsided," Julien agreed. "It was a hard period to coach and to watch." Luck, or the "hockey breaks" as Julien termed them earlier in the week, would swing for Boston though on this night. With fewer than eight minutes to go in the first, a wraparound attempt from Jonathan Toews would seemingly cross the goal-line following a late push from Marian Hossa. But upon video review, it was determined that the officials had blown the play dead, the goal disallowed. The Bruins knew they had dodged a bullet, down just the single marker. "We were really lucky," Seidenberg conceded of his teams fortunate state after a period. "We didnt play well in front of Tuukka, but Tuukka saved us coming out of the first only being down one." Staring at a potential 2-0 series hole, after dropping the opener in a marathon triple overtime classic, Seidenberg and his teammates knew they could ill afford to continue their uninspired early play. And upon realizing the stakes, they woke up and ground their way back into the hockey game. Chris Kelly would knot the score at one with about five minutes remaining in the middle period, his first goal of the playoffs and first since April 17, the pace of play slowing, the level of physical play rising, the amount of chances allowed diminishing. "I think after that first period, we just decided to get our legs moving," Julien said. "Slowly things started going our way." "The sense of desperation came in," Milan Lucic added, Nathan Horton rejoining his line after departing with injury in the first overtime of Game 1. "You never want to get yourself down 2-0 and that was the thought and thats what we were talking about in the dressing room between periods. We wanted to go out there and give ourselves a chance going into the third period." The score would remain square at one upon the conclusion of regulation, overtime required for the second straight game to begin the series. Teamed together early in the second frame and already having conspired for the game-tying goal, Kelly, Paille and Tyler Seguin would reconnect on the winner, Seguin capitalizing on a giveaway from Brandon Bollig at the blueline, dishing to Paille for the series-evening marker. "Like I told our guys," said Julien, "we got to show up on time for these kind of games. It could have cost us tonight." "It was a dirty road win," Seidenberg concluded. Fake Lakers Jerseys . American Kevin Streelman was in second place after shooting a 69. GREEN BAY, Wis. --?Jared Cook, Ty Montgomery and Sam Barrington were activated off the Green Bay Packers physically unable to perform list Tuesday. But the bigger news is that Jordy Nelson was not.Nelsons return remains in the air, while quarterback Aaron Rodgers will finally get the chance to work with Cook, the Packers lone free-agent signing on offense, for the first time in full pads. Rodgers will also get to work with Montgomery for the first time since he went on injured reserve last season.Theres a chance, though, that Rodgers and Nelson might not get any work together before the regular season. Nelson experienced a setback with his left knee this summer while putting the finishing touches on the rehab work with his right ACL, the injury that kept him out all of last season. He is almost sure?to miss Fridays preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field, and Rodgers in recent years has played very little in the preseason, including just the first two games last year.Jordy, I know what hes all about, Rodgers said. I can throw to him to spots probably with my eyes closed sometimes, but it would be nice to get out there with Jared and Ty at some point. Practice would be the most important thing, and then if we get the chance in the game, that would be great, too.Nelson and center Corey Linsley (hamstring) are the only remaining players on the Packers PUP list.Cook, who signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract with the Packers in March, underwent foot surgery in June. Montgomery hasnt played since Week 6 of last season and recently detailed to ESPN.com just how severe his ankle injury was. Barrington hasnt played since Week 1 of last season, when he suffered a foot injury. While all three returned to practice Tuesday, its unlikely they will play against the Browns. Its not even a sure thing that Rodgers will play. He would not hhave played in last Sundays Hall of Fame game even if it had not been canceled because of poor field conditions.ddddddddddddReally, the focus is more on [backup quarterback]?Brett Hundley and our two young guys, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. Thats the target we need to hit as far as giving those three men the opportunity and amount of work. Im more worried about them three than I am about Aaron Rodgers. The only thing certain for Rodgers is that he will practice this week. He hasnt done anything since last Wednesday, sitting out Thursdays practice because he wasnt going to play in the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday.Rodgers said he worked out on the field in Canton, Ohio on Sunday well before the game.I think I was probably the only guy who worked out on Sunday, because I was out there so early running around and doing some stuff with our strength staff, he said.Rodgers said it was during that workout that he realized the game probably wasnt going to be played.I noticed right away the end zones were firm, Rodgers said. It was like a plastic consistency, and I was surprised by that. When I went out the second time to see if Scott [Tolzien] maybe was going to be out there and Andrew [Luck], I could tell there was something going on. They made the decision in the interest of player safety. The substance they were trying to get the paint off with, I can promise you, was not health-conscious at all. So I think they ultimately made the right decision. The tough part is you have so many fans there who paid money to be at the game, so thats the disappointing part. And then obviously with Marquise and Joe getting a chance, and any of the healthy young players, but those guys in my room, it wouldve been fun to see those guys play. ' ' '
