SAN DIEGO -- Arizona manager Chip Hale expected games just like this with an inexperienced bullpen. The Diamondbacks had a lead in the eighth inning, but relievers Jake Barrett and Enrique Burgos couldnt hold it as the San Diego Padres rallied for a 9-8 win to snap Arizonas four-game winning streak. We knew there was going to be some ugliness from these young guys pitching late in games, Hale said.Rookie Alex Dickersons two-out, three-run double in the eighth inning against Burgos was the difference. With Arizona leading 7-6, Barrett (1-1) got the first two outs of the inning before Travis Jankowski and Wil Myers singled, and Yangervis Solarte drew a walk to load the bases.Walks in general are killers, Barrett said. And that is a great example of it.Burgos then came on and gave up Dickersons bases-clearing hit into the gap in left-center field.Ryan Buchter (3-0) had given up Michael Bourns go-ahead single in the top of the eighth to put the Diamondbacks back ahead after trailing by three earlier in the game.Brandon Maurer worked the ninth for his sixth save in 10 chances, giving up an RBI single to Mitch Haniger before getting Chris Owings to fly out and Brandon Drury to ground out and snap the Padres five-game losing streak.Jankowski had a career-high four hits for the Padres.Give him credit, Hale said. He is a real good hitter.Haniger had three hits for Arizona, including an RBI double in the seventh that tied the score at 6-6.The Padres had gone ahead 6-5 on Edwin Jacksons keen base running, after the Padres starter reached on a walk as a pinch-hitter to start the sixth. Jackson advanced to third on Jankowskis double and scored on a passed ball.Welington Castillo was handcuffed by Edwin Escobars pitch and the ball ricocheted toward the Padres dugout. Jackson broke for the plate and Castillos relay was high, with Jackson swiping the plate with his left hand on a headfirst slide. That is just inexcusable at this level, Hale said. Its not that hard to get the signs. The Padres took a 5-2 lead with four runs in the third thanks to some sloppy Arizona fielding.Jankowskis second hit opened the inning and he stole second base -- after a replay overturned the original call. Myers followed with a single, with Jankowski scoring his second run.Segura then misplayed Dickersons grounder and Myers scored. Christian Bethancourt followed with a two-run single.Castillos RBI single, his third hit of the game, pulled Arizona to 5-3, and Jean Seguras two-run homer, a 416-foot shot in the sixth off reliever Jose Dominguez, tied it.TRAINERS ROOMDiamondbacks: OF A.J.
